Day 2

Day 2
May14th, 2012
after my 5th attempt to wake Jake up, I finally fell back asleep until around 8am.  I then tried to wake him up again. I headed to the pool and he promised he was following me down... so I swam for about an hour when he finally made an appearance. We swam some more then headed to town to find a shop. We went to Charlestown and bought some yogurt, fruit, chicken, bacon, beans and rice, pita bread, eggs, cheese, and more water. the prices here are about the same as in the states, which is pretty nice.
We ate a light breakfast of grapes and yogurt and headed down to the water to go snorkeling. on our way down we noticed some holes in the ground about 2 inches in diameter. I thought they were tarantula hole and Jake thought they were salamander holes. We avoided them but didn't think much of them. We took the underwater camera so we have some really amazing shots! We saw a few fish and some cool plants, but nothing too amazing. Jake was hungry again, so we headed back to the bungalow to eat lunch. We had bacon and eggs in a pita pocket. It was delicious! after that we headed back to the pool and swam some more, then sunbathed for a few minutes. Jake noticed a little bit of a burn on my back, and by the time we got to the house I was beet red except for my tan lines! my sunscreen mustve come off while we were snorkeling or I just didn't have enough on. Jake is a tiny bit burnt but nothing like I was. Alaynna gave me some special lotion with aloe vera in it, so I've been using that and it really helps. We keep it in the fridge so it stays really cold and it feels great when you put it on! the burn is almost all a tan now! but we've decided that today is going to be an inside day to give my back some more time to heal.

After putting sunscreen on, we came inside and started working on getting the WiFi working(obviously sucessful!) and then layed around and napped some more. We looked at the restaurant in Nevis and decided on one called "Mango". It's part of the Four Seasons Resort here on the island, so we figured it'd be pretty fancy. On our way into town Jake saw a HUGE crab crawl into one of the holes. We stopped the car and saw that the entire jungle area right before the water was completely packed with the giant crabs! That explained the holes. We headed back to the store to buy a few things then headed to the restaurant. It was so beautiful! we were on a dock lined with huge rocks that went right out to the water. We watched the most beautiful sunset go down while eating the most amazing food I've ever had. Jake had ribs, coleslaw(I ate it of course), and sweet potato fries. I had a mango pineapple burger and fries. It seems american, but it was amazingly caribbean. I wish we had food like that in the states! afterwards we had a dessert of a chcocolate mango cake. It was SO good! the owner of the resteraunt came and talked to us for a while. He was really nice! after that we headed back to the bungalow and watched the new Game of Thrones(a perk to having internet!). Jake kept complaining about his shoes smelling bad, so I went to go wash them in the sink. the second I turned the water on the biggest cockroach I've ever seen in my life climbed out of them. I ran away screaming. Jake thought a monkey was in the bathroom. I told him how big it was and he didn't believe me, but when he saw it for himself he could barely believe it! It was at least 2 inches long. it took him a while, but he eventually squished it and made me clean it up. I put paper towels on it and carried it outside with big wooden spoons, where it probably still is unless a bird ate it. At about 11pm we went to bed. I woke up around 5:30 again but fell back asleep until about 9:15, but now it's 10am and Jake is still sound asleep. I'm going to see if I can tempt him to get out of bed with some bacon and eggs!
